Utah Office Sound Masking Systems

Increase Privacy and Productivity & Reduce Distractions

Why Is A Sound Masking System Needed?

A sound masking system is essential in an office to address the challenges posed by noise and distractions, especially in open-plan or shared workspaces. Modern offices often lack walls and barriers, allowing sound to travel further and cause disruptions, making it difficult for employees to focus and be productive.

An office sound masking system helps cover these distracting noises, making them less noticeable. This creates a quieter, more controlled sound environment that enhances both concentration and comfort for employees. It also improves speech privacy, ensuring that conversations are harder to overhear.

How Does Utah Sound Masking Work?

white noise system

There are three main ways to improve your acoustic environment and achieve the necessary privacy: Block, Absorb, or Cover sound.

  • Sound waves can be blocked by using high-STC-rated panels, partitions, windows, and walls.
  • Sound can be absorbed by using a high-NRC-rated ceiling tile or acoustic wall panels.
  • Sound can be covered by using a white noise system or sound masking system. This system generates low-level background sound—not structured music—which effectively covers up distractions.

Most offices have multiple sound signatures (such as call centers versus reception areas). Unlike other systems, our sound masking system for office environments can be finely tuned to areas as small as 225 sq. ft., whereas competitors typically mask in half- or full-floor zones. With our noise masking system, you can be confident in achieving uniform, comfortable speech privacy.

Benefits of Office Sound Masking

    1. Increased Privacy: An office sound masking system makes conversations less intelligible, enhancing speech privacy and reducing the risk of confidential information being overheard.
    2. Reduced Distractions: By covering distracting noises, like phone calls or conversations, sound masking helps employees focus better, leading to increased productivity.
    3. Improved Acoustic Comfort: It balances overall noise levels, making the workspace feel more comfortable.
    4. Enhanced Concentration: With fewer distractions, employees can concentrate better on tasks, improving work quality and reducing errors.
    5. Lower Stress Levels: A quieter, more controlled sound environment can reduce the stress caused by noisy office spaces, leading to a more relaxed atmosphere.
    6. Flexible Office Design: A white noise system for office settings supports open or collaborative spaces without sacrificing privacy or acoustic comfort, which is essential for modern office layouts.

These benefits contribute to a more productive, comfortable, and efficient workplace.

The Philm Gear Difference

Not all sound masking systems are created equal! Here’s why ours are better:

Philm Gear offers Utah’s best sound masking systems. Our solutions not only meet but exceed industry standards. We measure success in two ways: how well the system creates and maintains speech privacy and how comfortable the sound is. With our office white noise system, you’ll hardly even notice it’s there!

Our systems provide both individualized and central speaker control, ensuring sound uniformity without the need for regular re-tuning—unlike most white noise systems that require annual maintenance. We cover 100% of your space, whereas other systems only cover up to 80%, which compromises comfort and quality.

All of Philm Gear’s sound masking systems are UL Listed, so you can be confident that your system will meet code requirements
